Question '99 Passat Brake Module

Currently the ABS light is on and the Brake light flashes on my ‘99 Passat GLX. I found a walkthrough for a repair, but apparently did not perform the procedure correctly because the lights are still on. In the process I think I may have damaged the electronic brake module.

I have read that if I order a new unit it would need to be programmed, does this hold true if I replace it with one from a different Passat? I have 205,000 miles on it and I really would rather not put a lot of money into fixing it. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Smile ABS Module Repair

Just had the same problem. Fix is to get module rebuilt. Had great experience with Module master. Go to Modulemaster.com for info. Cost to rebuild $200 warranty 5yrs! factory only 1, New module $1400-$1600 crazy. Removal and replacement not hard. They even have a video on line! Check it out. Good Luck.

Default Brake module replacement

I jsut had to replace my module, as long as all the numbers match you can take it out of another car. When you install the replacement if everything is correct the light will turn off by it's self.
