Default Burned Headlight Harness Passanger Side

Hello to everyone! As you can see I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I recently aquired a VW Passat 2001.5 for a very good price but I had to change the timing belt (freakin 1k) and now I noticed that the left headlight projector is burned. I went to a garage and they told me that the harness is burned and they advised me to go to the dealership and buy it so they can install it.

So when I fixed my timing belt I also wanted to buy the part. I cut the two wires and I removed the harness so I can show it to the parts manager because he had trouble finding it in their inventory (no part number written on it - probably it is on the part that was melted). They told me that I have to buy the whole headlight for that small harness.

Now on the internet i found diverse harnesses with wires but they do not look the same; since i do not have much experience with this I do not know exactly which one might work.

If any one of you could advise me of what other part I could replace this harnes with I would be very grateful - and also the website from where I could purchase it.
http://www.yourhotcar.com/productIma...3267_3887.jpeg < for example, would this work? If not what would?

I'm attaching a picture of the burned harness.

Thank you ,
Dan.

I'd go the salvage yard route first if it were me. Find a local one that has the headlight, call them and see if they have the car. Go and see the part yourself.

I use Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market to search most yards. Print out the price quote so they'll honor it when you get there.

Thanks for the reply. I tried the salvage yard route and all of them sell only the entire headlight assambly, not only the harness, which is 130 bux... I tried calling a few but the same..they only sell the entire headlight with the interior.

130 sounds alot cheaper than a new one.
