Default Changing ignition switch

How difficult is changing an ignition switch. The dealership quoted $618 thats sounds kind of high when the part supposedly is less than 50.

dealership rips you off hard...go to an independent garage and get a quote there.

Depends on your skill set and willingness to learn. I would say it's not very hard to do.

I'm with TTT on the dealer opinion. NEVER take your car to a dealer for service unless it's under warranty.

First of all, they will be 2 to 3 times the price.

Second, they are not generally motivated to work on your car unless it is new -usually. if you have an out of warranty car, you are an inconvience

Third, Dealer repair shops are handed their customers through warranty and new car sales, -An independent garage has to work hard and provide value to gain, build and maintain customers -They want to build relationships.

Don't get me wrong, Im sure there are good Dealer Repair Shops, but for people with cars older than 4 or 5 years, the value is not there -not even close.

Take it to the independent German specialist who lives and breathes the sound of a tip top old engine.
