Default Passat almost topped out

I was driving to Houston from my river house in my 1.8T Passat. I just decided to see what a cracked K04 turbo could do. I got on it and hit 100mph pretty quickly. I was encouraged to go faster by my two other passengers. I got freaked out at 135-140mph and i slowed down. A cupple weeks later I got a ticket doing 44mph in a 30. I looked at my speedometer and it read 30. So you do the math and that's how fast i really went in my passat, i'm guessing 145-150 but i'm not shure. That's my story and I got two witnesses.

Congrats...I guess.
150mph sounds about right...but I would be more concerned that your speedo is broken!

No it's not broken it just hasn't been recalibrated to fit the 18in 245ZR yokohoma parada's in the front and the khumo escta's on the back.

Yikes, be careful. The fastest I had my 4MO so far was 100 and I don't plan on going faster anytime soon.

Ah forget about it!!! Passats are solid when hitting triple digits. I remember doing 130 with my K03 coming home from the first Import War. With my wife asleep in the passenger seat

I have a problem where I have to top out everything that I own sooner or later (mostly sooner). I have a 7 mile flat stretch of interstate near me, 4 lanes on each side and has a concrete divider. It's perfect for checking out the top end late in the evening.

150 is pretty damn scary, I think. Had the 2.ho up to 118 this summer, and that was enuff for me!

I crashed my 1999 Golf 2.slo on 9-11-2006 at 10pm at probably close to 100 mph. I had been having problems with a tire but tohguht nothing of it and we had been going 130 prior to that on a nice long straight stretch. The car only hit 130 because I drafted off of a guy (don't ask it was very stupid) needles to say a slow leak i nthe front right blew it out under pressure of a slight turn at 100mph (i think it was actually 90-95). I pulled the car out of hitting a brand new dodge ram and slid right off the road through a stop sign. didn't roll, flip, or other wise hit anything. The police and EMT's still cant figure out how i managed to save it. My friend who was with me said he's never seen anyone react so quickly. I thank that, VW, and God for bring us both out with only a cut on my hand. here is a picture of my car:

a week earlier, my friend who works at the local VW dealership was drunk and attmepted a turn at 105 mph, lost control, flipped and landed in a ditch, emergency units said this "You're lucky it was German"

Here is a picture of his 2005 Golf:

He had 4 people in his car. All I have to say is, know your limits, know your road, and for God sake get some good tires on it.

It can be stupid, but it is very fun and addictive. I did 135mph in my Passat 2.0T but I don't think it let me do any more. I think that was its max, although it shows the speedometer a little higher.

Just be sure you do it at night and no one around!
