Question Temp sensor?

I just bought a 99 Passat yesterday with the 1.8 turbo 4 cylinder. Thanks to this forum, I found out the the ICM was what was causing it miss on number 2 cylinder. I had a kid at Autozone put the scanner on it and he also told me that the temperature sensor is bad too. (the gauge does not move up at all). My question is where is the temp senser located? I found the ICM and swapped it out, but I have no idea where this temp sensor is located...
Thanks for any ideas...

I know onthe transverse 1.8T it's right next to the engine on the drivers side, it's a copper topped sensor with a harness plugged onto it. If you do get a new one make sure that it's the green topped sensor.

Thanks ttturbo, luckily the one I already bought does have a green top. You've given me a starting point...I had absolutely no idea! I paid $1800 for this car, 120,000 miles, it already had new timing belt, water pump, battery, brakes and battery. If I can get a decent daily driver out of it for a couple hundred more bucks, it will be the best car deal I've ever made. Besides, I've wanted a Passat for a while now....
