Gear box trouble

My Polo will be needing a new gearbox soon. I got offered to buy a used gearbox from a garage. The "donor" is a Polo that was hit (on the side) from the left, but they said there should be nothing wrong with the gear box. So they said it should work allright.

BUT the donor car has been running 155 000 km (about 97 000 miles). Is that very far for a Polo (= will this gear box break soon), or could you advise me to buy this box?
