Hi
I have a 1998 Polo 1.6i A/T done 50,000km. When warm has started switching off whilst driving. No warning, jerking or missfire, Oil light comes on, beeps, have to crank over 2-3 min. before it starts. Been tested by dealer at huge cost, claims they cannot fault. Dealer claims could be : 1. Throttle Body, 2. Distributor, 3. Fuel Pump. Occured initially, then again after 10 days, then progressvely worse, now every trip. Any ideas? Many thanks. |

Sounds like it might be an electrical issue (battery, grounding, etc), or maybe a dirty throttle body...but it's weird for sure.
I am not sure about the oil light, I would think oil starvation would shut the engine off for good, not so intermittently...I assume you've checked your oil levels regularly? Are you getting any immobilizer DTC faults? I am wondering if a bad speed sensor could be the culprit...it's not unheard of.
