Default Polo switches off!

Hi

I have a 1998 Polo 1.6i A/T done 50,000km. When warm has started switching off whilst driving. No warning, jerking or missfire, Oil light comes on, beeps, have to crank over 2-3 min. before it starts. Been tested by dealer at huge cost, claims they cannot fault. Dealer claims could be : 1. Throttle Body, 2. Distributor, 3. Fuel Pump. Occured initially, then again after 10 days, then progressvely worse, now every trip. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Sounds like it might be an electrical issue (battery, grounding, etc), or maybe a dirty throttle body...but it's weird for sure.
I am not sure about the oil light, I would think oil starvation would shut the engine off for good, not so intermittently...I assume you've checked your oil levels regularly?
Are you getting any immobilizer DTC faults? I am wondering if a bad speed sensor could be the culprit...it's not unheard of.
