Default power loss and now exhaust managment fault light on

I have a polo 1.9PD TDi 130ps. recently got it chipped. howeva wen i put my foot down off roundabout after short while the power was lost. it feels really heavy the engine and as tho the turbo been cut off. however if you turn engine off then back on all is restored and back to normal.
i've heard it pos an airflow sensor that could be faulty. (stil under waranty - )
it been booked in to for diognostic but since then my exhaust fault light has come on.
could this be related to same prob? or is this another fault?
question might sound daft but what does the exhaust managment fault mean?
