Hello Members
I've got a 2001 model VW Polo automatic, and i just wondered, before starting the car (nothing on, dash not lit up), should i moved the transmission lever from 'P' (park) and put it into 'N' (neutral), then start the engine, and when turning off put the lever back into 'N', then turn off the engine, and then put it into the 'P' position? The reason i ask, is, that i've always notice when i come to a stop (parking up) engine still on and running, i move the gear lever into the 'P' positon, this can sometime not be a smooth action, and so... ...When i come to the car the next time and start it, it starts with more vibrations (i let it idle for 30 40 seconds), and as i move the gear lever out of the 'P' position it again is not a smooth action, but the moment i get it out of 'P' engine seems happier (no vibrations). Sorry about this....but i've got to fully explain it all, to those that care.... I've recently suddenly noticed, when i come to a stop, and find that moving into 'P' is not smooth, if i then go into 'R' (reverse), move the car just a fraction, then try 'P' again, it will go in nice and easy. When i next start the car there's none of these ecessive vibrations. Does anyone else experiance this?, Why do i need to put it into 'Park' anyway, carn't i just leave it in 'Neutral' like a manual car?, i'm concerned about this because i don't want to cause any ecessive wear or damage, and also don't what to leave the car in an unsafe way. Any help, or pointers on what's the best thing to do would be great! regards Livio
