Default 1.6L turbodiesel into Scirocco

Hello everyone, Can the 1.6L turbodiesel that was installed in the 80's jettas be installed in the VW scirocco? I like the look of the scirocco.

How difficult would this swap be if I had both cars right beside each other,

Also in general are VW's difficult to work on? I have 3 mercedes diesels, and was just curious about VW's

Thanks

it's a direct swap - in fact you can get rid of a lot of electronic stuff when you go diesel. Scirocco's were always MK1 chassis - so the mounts and all bolt right up. Having the donor car right next to the target is a great advantage - the one thing you won't have (unless you install it yourself) is the glowplug light - but you could always use the "shift up" light for your glowplugs -
