Hi Guys,
First time poster. Love the forum, loads of information here and it's nice to see lots of VW owners sticking together
I found the forum because I was Googling a rather minor issue I have with my car. She loves the summer, never a problem, but the weather here in the UK has just turned autumnal and cold and my car basically hates starting. She'll start instantly, and then without any intervention from me run the revs up to 3,000 where she'll sit there for 4-5 minutes until the engine temp gets over the "white block" on the gauge and then idles again.
I can't bring the revs down during this "warming up" period and if I turn the engine off she carries on running for a few seconds! I don't drive when she's doing this, because frankly it's bloody dangerous because the accelerator feels stuck open! And I'd feel like a complete a*sehole with the car revved up at 3000 whilst sitting at lights.
She has once done this whilst warm, but it last a few minutes and then disappeared, most of the time its only when the weather is cold and the engine is very cold (an overnighter for instance).
I absolutely love this car and will never sell it and this is my first problem with it since the June (when I bought it).
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
