Default Scirocco cooling system question

After fitting a new water pump I have got a lot of air in the system. Any tips on bleeding this out? do I have to have the heater on? Thanks.

Filling the engine through the upper radiator hose usually does the trick. I'm guessing your cooing system doesn't have an external bottle.

Turning on the heater would let coolant cycle from the bottom of the water pump into the heater core, and then into side of the head, although it would be a true pita and probably take forever.

There is a bleeder system on the market to assist in this. All the major tool companies should carry one if Aaron's trick doesn't work.

When I used to work on these cars, I just jacked up the front end to get the top of the radiator above the engine to get all of the air out with the heater on.
