what to look for before buying a scirocco

I am looking at an 86 scirocco to purchase for cheap. The car currenlty has 112,xxx miles on it. Are these cars generally reliable or should I stay away? The owner says it runs fine, but what should I look for (known problem areas) before I purchase the car?

Look ALL around the core support and frontmost part of the frame rails for cracks. Scirocco 2s crack up there and the core support can rip off.

If it has power windows, make sure they work well as replacement regulators can be hard to find in working condition.

Those are the only Scirocco 2 specific things I can really think of.
