89 VW Fox GL Wagon Won't Start!

OK so first off, I am new to these forums and I really don't know sh!t about cars. Also, I really love this car.

My trouble is this, my Fox is down. I replaced the in tank pump, fuel filter, main fuel pump, fuel pump relay, new plugs, and a new battery. I go to start the beast and it acts like it wants to start and briefly starts on occasion and dies quickly. I'm not sure where to go from here to get it up and running again. Thanks a bunch!

I forgot to include that I cleaned all the corrosion from the plugs, terminals, rotor cap, and the striker thing.

Did you check the "Hall sending unit". Mine was corroded pretty good and kept it from starting.
It is located on the passenger side under the dash.
