1991 Vanagen engine running very poor

Hello All, after running for a short time it stalls when stopping,after restart it has to be throttled to keep it running. Have changed the coil wire, dist cap, fuel filter, throttle cable and belts. Seems that after it starts warming up this happens. It can be restarted most of the time. Any ideas

Your TBS or throttle body could be bad. You could also have an vac leak.

Try spraying carb cleaner or starter fluid over the vac hoses and intake manifold. If the engine revs or smooths out while you are spraying you could have a vac leak.

If your throttle body or ISV is really gummed up or bad that could also cause the problem. Does you ISV buzz? Also try unpluging your 02 sensor.

My 1.9L 1985 Vanagon had this green box that mounted on the driver side fire wall. I forget what it is called at the moment, idle something.. My idle started to get erratic and it was this culprit. I am not sure if the 2.L use the same device
