pop-top into transporter

Hi i have a transporter (T25) 1.6 Diesel, year 1987. I am planning on living in her and could do with some extra space. Does anyone have ay advice on fitting a pop-top/hitop or similar?

I've heard of the conversion but its mainly done professionally (vw maxiwesty.com) and such but its my understanding with the additional bracing required it costs alot most say your better off to buy a camper and switch your good stuff into it. hope this helps
