Turbo oil leak

Hi.I have the chance to buy a transporter turbo diesel.It has a VERY slight weep of oil from the turbo,only enough to show a damp patch and smell oil and see a tiny bit of smoke in the engine bay off the manifold.My question is,that bearing in mind I don't want to be messing about with new seals etc,does anyone see this as a potentially big problem in the near future,or can they stay like this for ages.Thanks for any advise.Pogo
