Default Backup camera

Hi, I just joined the forum as my wife picked up a Routan SE with RSE on saturday...

The backup camera image on the screen is very fuzzy. Is this normal? You can definitely see the images, just not sharp at all.

This is my first backup camera so I can not compare. Its nice but I feel it could be clearer. Who knows, maybe that the wide angle cam just distorts the image and thats the way they are?????

I took mine to the dealer in regards to this issue, and they said that this is normal, its just a lousy camera. The back up camera on our Q7 was awesome, the one in our Routan is not that great.

I noticed the poor quality of the image on the back-up camera too. The image on my past vehicles have been much clearer. Does anyone know if it is a camera issue or screen issue and is there an aftermarket solution?

I rented a Caravan and it's image was ok -enough to see a child clearly -and I believe they use the identical system that VW uses right?

I don't believe there are focal adjustments on such a camera. They are a fixed focal length wide angle cheap NTSC camera. ALthough it could be software or firmware causing the problem at the dash.
