Default Just Got The New Routan

This may be built in a Chrysler plant in Canada but it is no Chrysler. I have only had mine for a few days and was not to hip to the idea of a Mini Van in the first place however after doing my research I came up the Routan. This vehicle drives like a VW and handles better that the others that I drove (Honda,Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler). The 2 Dvd players on 3 screens, bluetooth, 30gb hard drive, and 506 watt amplified sound system kicks ass. I love it ....Let me know if you need a recommendation for a dealer I got mine for 5k below MSRP and 0% interest for 72 months............Dallas TX

Wow that's not bad. I've been sort of waiting to hear some review on this van but I don't live within a decent driving distance of a VW dealership (nearest one is about 80 miles away) and there's nothing but chevy/dodge/ford dealerships in my town so I rarely see VW's here. Keep us posted if you find anything more about the Routan, it's an interesting sounding VW.

Default Great deals to be had

Ditto on the good deals. We just bought an SEL Premium with every option except the engine block heater, paid $6k below MSRP, got a 3M ClearBra thrown in for that price and topped it off with 0% financing for 60 months and 3 years of free maintenance (included with all Routans). We also drove all comparable vans AND the 7 person crossovers (Enclave, CX9, Flex, Outlook, Pilot, etc.). Took the 3 kids on every test drive (had to listen to a lot of whining, but it was worth it for the feedback on likes and dislikes). They loved the Enclave and the Routan, but the Enclave didn't have near the interior space of the Routan. I don't want to carry luggage on the roof when road-tripping, so the Routan won. After 11 years of minivans, we were hoping to stop buying them, but you can't argue with their utility. Until the 7 person cross-overs gain square footage behind the 3rd row of seats, there's little choice unless you want to drive a 12 mpg truck like a Yukon that drops 40% of its value the second you drive off the dealer lot.

You must have a very good bargain skill. I wish I should see this thread before ordering one. One thing I would like to ask did you guys buy the extended warranty? My dealer just told 2K for additional 3 yrs (total 6 yrs). Is it worth to buy? Also I got confused with corrosion warranty. Some VW dealer site still refer to 12 yrs/unlimited miles but official is 3 yrs only. What's your cases?

How much would it cost for a 3M ClearBra if not got thrown in.

Default Extended Warranties

I don't do extended warranties on anything except computers. My wife took one out on our last Honda Odyssey before I had a chance to read anything. What a joke. Read the fine print and try to think of something it DOES cover. If your transmission falls out while driving down the highway, and you did nothing that could possibly have contributed to it, and you have had every service at the dealer and have documentation to back it up, and you had your oil changed on time every time, you might be covered. Anything else is excluded. Auto extended warranties are a money making scam for the warranty companies and dealers. Don't do it. Sorry for the rant. It still ticks me off just thinking about it.

It was $495 according to the dealers I talked to; I'm sure their cost was half that. Totally worth it though. Protects your hood and front fenders against rock hits. You'll save yourself a lot of touchup paint and keep the re-sale value higher. Find an installer in your area here.
