Default Puffs of white smoke and eating oil???

I have a six month old Routan SEL 4.0 liter, I love the van, but having a few problems. First the change oil light came on before the car even hit 2000 miles. As I read in another post, I got the same response basically, that it was never reset. Then the van started giving a big puff of white smoke, not just a little, when starting. Doesn't do it all the time, but quite often, doesn't matter if car is cold or warm. I took it in and they said everything looks fine. So I dealt with it till now, van has 6k miles and ready for its oil change. Just curious I checked oil level before I took it in, and it barely touched the dipstick, way below the safe zone. Car is in shop now, but they are trying to tell me the puff of smoke is normal, and so is it eating oil. They told me just monitor oil level between changes. I'm sorry, but I have never owned a new car where this was normal, and other van owners I know have not had this problem. Any suggestions out there? Thanks in advance.

BTW, I love my CC also

Has this car ever overheated or been running hot? (Just thinking the worst)

No, it seems to run fine, not overheating or anything, just using oil and the puff of smoke when starting, after that-it's all good.

No smoke on start up for us. No oil eating... So, NO its not normal.

Ive had my maintenance done by Chrysler as they know the engine better than the VW techs, maybe ask them for an opinion - it may help when talking to VW.
