Thumbs up 1976 Dream Machine....

Hello from Chesapeake Beach, MD. I found a 1976 VW Beetle in a junkyard in New Jersey. I saved her and brought her home. Her bod and interior were in excellent shape, except for a minor bruise in the rear (looks like she was hit). the frame was aok, the motor would turn but wouldn't start. After tooling around with the motor for a day, I gave up and started looking at wiring. Found that there was a broken wire leading to the fuel pump. I repaired this and she fired right up! So far, I've added a tube subframe and worked on the motor a bit to get her to idle. She still idles very rough and takes awhile to warm up. I'm joining the site here to maybe get some pointers (this is my first V-Dub) on getting the motor right and finding the other parts I need to get her road ready again. My other car is a 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona (1576-2000) that I'd love to park and drive this gem to work everyday.

Looks pretty good for Md.
Get yourself a Bentley manual(official VW) for your year and it will show you how to repair your FI system among other things, Haynes or Chiltons are not good for that.
