Hello all, I found this site after being on a similar site for my motorcycle. I have a 1966 Bug, converted to 12 volt a few years ago. I put in a 1600 last summer, when the original 1300 finally died after reaching over 250,000 miles. The bug has been in the family since I was in High School in the mid 70's, and sat in my dad's garage for almost 20 years before it was given to me. It has a few problems, but who (or what) doesn't after that many years. With the exception of an occasional nasty freezing fog in these Oregon winters (heater/defroster and wiper issues) it has been the most reliable go-to-work car that I have owned.

Hi, my name is Karey and I just bought an 85 Cabriolet.
I used to own a 2000 Golf, but I have been on hiatus for a few years.
I am very excited to be back in the VW family and will probably be around, asking questions, fixing up the car a little bit.
Thanks and see you around!

Hey everybody,
I'm just looking for some help with a problem I have with my 98 Jetta. I love everything about it, except recently it has started arming itself as i am driving. If I disarm it, it seems to rearm itself again a minute later. If anyone could direct me to where I might find a solution to this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Default Hey!

Hobbies: computers, music (guitar and sax), car audio
How'd you find the forum?: Decided i was getting sick of spending money on my computer upgrades and builds because they arent near as satisfying as a faster car.

So yeah thats all about me, now on to my car

Last year I purchased a '98 VW Jetta Wolfsburg Ed. with the 2.0l 8v engine. Car runs great, 140k miles on it and paid $2800. Havent had any probs at all except for an ignition coil that decided to shoot lightning at my face.

I'll get some pics up soon, just started to do work on it (I plan on doing it all, no running to mechanics for this DIYer .

Since purchase i threw in a cone filter last week right off the existing MAF (why pay $150+ for a CAI when you can fit a filter on existing parts for $40?) and next upgrade is gonna either be a chip from autotech or cat back exhaust.

Anywho, look forward to picking some brains and offering assistance however I can! Hope to be on a track soon too, def. a goal of mine.

Also, i'm a recent VW convert... used to have a DSM... all I can say is... never again

Default New GTI Owner!

Hey I'm Jonade from Thousand Oaks, CA, USA.
I just got my first GTI. 2010 MKVI.

I work as a graphic designer right now but changing jobs soon.

My hobbies are spending quality time with my Girlfriend/friends/family, FIFA 10 on XBOX 360, Playing soccer for our local Pub Team, Cars/Driving (obv), also DJing on the side.

My personal german car passion was sparked by my uncles 1996 VW Corrado VR-6. My personal archive started with my 2002 Audi S4 about 8 years ago. Had that for 5 years and then had a Lexus IS350 for the last 3 years (I know, not german). Decided to sell my lexus due to a change of priorities in my life and got my GTI! As soon as I drove it home, I remembered how fun it was to drive a German engineered car. I've always missed my S4 since I got rid of it and now I'm happier then I was with the Lexus by far.

I joined this forum because I've been out of the loop for German tuning for a while and have questions about where are the best places for mods & accessories for VW/GTI's???

I look forward to being more involved again in car forums now that my love and passion is back......
