Hey guys and gals just stopped by to say whats up
i have a 2002 jetta its a 2.0
bought it a while ago mainly because i needed a ride, its good on gas and ive always liked jettas. im ashamed to say my plan was to drive it around a bit and then get rid of it but as soon as i started driving it i fell in love.
its a little beat up not too bad but i want to start fixing her. so if anyone has any tips or advice just let me know.

p.s. im new to forums so not sure if i did this right.

Introduce yourselves!

I live 100 miles north of Seattle, and am the new owner of a 2001 auto 1.8L Passat turbo 4 door wagon.

I was going into town to look at a couple of vehicles, a red ford thing that looked like a seed pod and a black 1999 Passat with 200 grand in mileage and owned by a youngster, when I spotted this little steel blue wagon in a parking lot along the way. It was very odd in that as I entered the parking lot and drove closer to the car, I knew it was "my" car....and as I write my intro to y'all, "my" little VWagon is VWaiting for me in the driveVWay...

Hi, I'm Matt and I'm probably getting myself in over my head, but I enjoy working on cars (never done a turbo car.) and I'm looking to learn every thing I can about this car. It is a blast to drive.
I don't actually own the car yet, but I'm probably going to buy it depending on how the checkup goes.
The car in question is a 2002 anniversary edition Mark IV GTI 337.
It has almost 200k miles on the block but almost everything else has been redone.

Engine:
5 angle grind and porting
APR stage 3 turbo kit
Pauter rods and pistons
Over-sized oil pump
South Bend Stage 3 clutch + lightweight flywheel
5 spd transmission swap with B&M short throw shifter.
Eurosport turbo back exhaust

Suspension:
LSD
Bilstein coilovers
H&R springs
17x7.5 Enkei rims

I only have a few concerns with the car, and I will look for the proper threads to address those concerns.

My kiddo loves watching Elmo in it when driving around. Keeps her content.
hobbies are working on car and making it nicer amd go faster.
Playing paintball spending time with my family and playing the vocational cs go.
look forward to meeting the community.
I found this site just by browsing around. Been apart of vwvortex and passat world for 2+yes. Some really krkptrck offs around some of the sites and I am more of a fan of helpful people and considerate. Will to ask for advice and also help people who need help. That's the community I want to be apart of.

Sorry photo is sideways LOL. Danger phone.

There was also some really cool people on other forums. Some very helpful people. Placed an add on other forums stating desperately need some mechanical help before Monday to help take some performance parts off and sure enough a nice gentleman came through and was just great.
look forward to meeting some more VW peeps

Hello everyone

Hello everyone. My name is Shaun. I'm from Jacksonville,NC and recently bought my first VW. I purchased a 2000 VW Golf GTI GLS 2.0. It has 190,000 miles on it and still runs great. I payed $1000 for this car from a guy who didn't want to mess with the Check Engine light. Turns out it was only the MAF that needed to be replaced. I'm looking to make some mods to this car. I will let you know what I want and hopefully you can point me in the right direction. I want to get a Magnaflow Muffler for this car. I don't want a cat back system because I have access to a metal shop and can run all new 2.25 piping by myself. Any ideas on good places. What I'm about to say next I know some if you will disagree but I'm going to turbo this 2.0 so go ahead those of you who want to bash me and get at it lol. I'm doing this because I want to. That's it in a nutshell. I will post pics at a later date.

2002 1.8T overheating

I'm new to this site and need some help!I've slowly been learning about my car.Got her maybe two months ago.I never had a problem overheating until I had to replace my thermostat sensor, the thermostat, coolant sensor,o2 sensors and gaskets.we had to get a new secondary water pump as well. Then my crankshaft broke so I had to get a new motor. And I've been having problems ever since.the mechanic I went to,took my battery and replaced it with what looks like a lawn mower battery and one of the relay fuses was a 20 instead of a 30.Any other ideas on what could be the problem would be sop helpful!!

was there a new water pump put in with the new motor? and if so was it a metal impeller water pump?

I think when we had the motor replaced they took the pump off the old motor and just slapped it together b/c a few days after having it,something broke off the pump from it over heating and thats why I just had to buy a pump from a wrecking yard and I'm not sure if it has metal impellers.I'll have to ask.I just had the pump put in Saturday.

the other thing to think about is the cooling system may be clogged, are you stoping the car when it starts to overheat?
