Default MK4 Surgery

Hi, I have a MK4 2.0 Golf and wanted to know if the 1.8T 20v motor would fit straight into my engine bay without cutting into the body to make up mountings? Besides the motor purchase and after-market ecu what else would I need and would this be a worth-while upgrade?

Thanks in advance for your response.

our cars are built like legos, almost all vw engines will fit in there. Price is what you should be thinking about here..

If it becomes a costly affair and by the sound of the quotes I am receiving it is, would it be alright to upgrade my original motor ie 2.0 2E Long block 8v. I am not looking to change my vehicle either so what ever I can do to improve its laziness I am willing to as long as its with in my budget. Now when I'm talking about upgrading my original motor I'm thinking of things like; larger throttle body, medium sized performance cam-shaft, exhaust and probably ecu re-map?

Anyone???

Depending on what your budget is, I think you better have deep pockets to get anything out of a 2.0. Read the post from stealthpassat on upgrades on his 2.0

Biggest amount of hp on 2.slow?
