Default New guy from Newton,NH could use HELP

Hi
I bought my daughter a 2001 1.8 turbo NB. She loves it and it was good until the timing belt went. I had a local garage do the head over in a machine shop and replaced water pump and belt. Car ran well for 3 months. Now I need a sticker and it has the infamous engine light syndrome I keep reading about. Oh well you guys Know all about it , I've done the plugs, coils, o2 sensor (rear), secondary air pump (hey I took one out of a 97 passat and used the existing mounting bracket, wired the plug in (made sure of rotation direction) and it worked for $20.), and of course the MAF (also out of a junkyard for only $50,((tested out good))).
Now the car runs excellent but the exhaust gasket between the turbo and the exhaust pipe is leaking. Is this real hard to fix? Do I attack it from the top or bottom?
You guys are pros and I appreciate your help and time, Thank you
Phil
