Old owner - new member
Decided to join to get tips in my restoration of my '91 GTI (8V) - if needed.
It was purchased new and has been sitting in the garage for a couple of years.... finally have the time and am in the process of getting her back into running condition. It's a shame that I didn't go through all the proper steps of storage, but that's past me now. I'm in the very early stages and I'm NOT A MECHANIC. Things seem to be going well....gas lines are free (pumps to the injectors) and it'll turn over (after new battery). Think I'll replace the fuel filter before trying to run it any - just in case. Gotta check the hoses/belts/electronics. I suspect the injectors will need some attention. Oh - I'm on a limited budget, so that's why I'm doing it myself (so far).
