Trunk won't open (2000 vr6) (Not acuator issue)

Trunk issues, blah blah blah.
Bought a new actuator and installed. Worked randomly. Ironically when the trunk is open, but not when closed. After I installed the old actuator, it worked.

See this video: https://youtu.be/hFUwmY6eI_I ? He mentions roughly 30 seconds in that the issue was the wire towards the left of the actuator and not the actuator itself. Any idea how I can look into this?

I think I figured it out. See attached photo. When I moved the wire(s) slightly the mechanism worked (and stronger). But I guess I moved it too much and now won't work again. I also noticed my radio reception has got worse. Related?

Just soldered and repaired the exact same issue on my 2000 1.8T - I would recommend replacing the entire wiring harness, as I am just waiting for the wires to fail right before or after the repaired spots.

Radio reception is not related to the rear latch

**Edit** Dug around and found the part number for the trunk harness - 1J5971182H or 1J5 971 182 H - can find them used on ebay, or new if you pay the price.
