hey everybody,
i recently redid the head gasket on my 91 jetta. fired up and runs.:K:, but i noticed a knocking:(. i was just wondering what you guys think it might be. i was told it could be a cam bearing to a rod knock. any ideas??? should i just scrap it? it is def. coming from the head area of the engine. just dont know what to try first. help would be much appreciated. thanks!

I suspect it is just be a sticky hydraulic lifter. The cam rides directly in the head material with no bearings. It is easy to drop the pan and check the rod bearings but if was not knocking before I doubt the bearing is bad unless you hydro locked the engine and in that case the rod might be bent. Don't scrap it send it to me.:)
