Hello peeps
I just picked up a
03 jetta 1.8t gls auto
150,000 miles.

I'm not familiar with vw or anything turbo. Anything I should look for?

I was told it does have a few things that need attention.

Intake tube to turbo is cracked, he taped it.
Slight oil Lear back driver area.

fix the intake tube right away. you probably need a valve cover gasket. timing belt and waterpump should be changed too.

Pretty sure intake tube caused check engine light to come on. Timming belt and water pump was said to be replaced already by previous owner. How hard is a valve cover gasket to replace? It has a stock turbo and a Audi tt bov? Boost guage but no controller.

You need to find out when the timing belt was done last, both mileage and years. It really should be about to be on its 3rd belt honestly.

I've never worked on a vw . Is it a big job to do a timing belt and water pump?

And for the intake tube. It's the top one. Would I get that at a dealer? Looks to be plastic
