I have a 1987 VW Cabrio in pretty good condition (65k miles). the inside of the car runs a little rough and appeared to be an engine mount or transmission mount problem because the vibrations were coming into the car.... The Engine mounts looked but the tranny mounts appeared worn, so I rather then doing the job myself, I took it into a mechanic to checkout the tranny mounts.

well, he said the front mount was bad, and the drivers side mount was bent. that is fine. but after a few days, he called this afternoon and said the passenger side engine mount (right by the timing chain) was previously installed upside down (by another mechanic) and it needs more time to fix. He did say he's not charging me any shop time over what he quoted, but i'm wondering is it even possible to install this mount upside down? it seems the bolt holes wouldn't line up with the block if it was upside down?

let me know what you think......
