Hi Folks,

I just bought a 94 golf for my daughter. The rear control arm bushings are shot. The car goes bang bang over bumps. Any tips on how to do this job?

Is it possible to do it without taking the whole thing out?

Thank you

Just buy a new control arm with new bushings already pushed in. It's your best bet and you don't need to press any bushings in that way.

Its a pretty easy job actually. Just remove the ball joint from the control arm and remove the two other bolts that connect control arm to body. Sometimes weaseling it in and out is the hardest part.

also while youre at it buy a bently's manual for the car. youve got a couple threads started so im guessing you are planning on doing some work yourself and those books help alot especially when you are actually sitting there doing it. decent diagrams and instructions etc.
