This car is killing us! Small oil leak in driveway after local shop changed oil. Back three times to shop. They finally decided they put too much oil in. So they took some out.

Now there is no noticeable leak. The dipstick says the level is in range.

But the oil light (picture of oil can) comes on after the engine warms up (10 minutes.

Took to dealer... They want $300 to "take the front off" and try to figure out what it is.

I am pulling it from the dealer?

Not sure what to do?

Any codes you can pull from a VagCom? That oil light comes on due to low oil presure, not low oil. Could be a bad sump pump or a bad pressure sensor, but sounds like a "sludge" problem, but would have to pull the valve cover or oil pan to validate. try an oil pressure test perhaps as a first test.

check to see if they ripped the wire for the sensor. im not sure where its at on the vr but it should be neer where the oil filter is. maybe the sensor went bad?

the sensor's on top of the oil filter housing and is a beotch to get to, but it may also be a case of a clogged pick up tube, I would drop the pan and take a look at that too
