hey guys have my 2005 1.8t mk4 im having a problem starting it
when i go to turn the key nothing happens tried everything disconnecting
and connecting the battery tryed charging it with another car and nothing
(the car does absolutely nothing at all when you go to turn the key to start it
with the clutch pressed)

the only way i could get the car started was by push starting it and popping the clutch and she started right up?

my guesses are :

ignition switch
starter
starter solenoid don't know where to start am new to mk4 :(

any advice or knowledge greatly appreciated

well I think the easiest to do would be the starter, that's where I would start since you had to pop the clutch to start it, it sounds like the ignition isn't the problem

Also Check The Clutch Pedal Switch, the car might not know the clutch is pressed. Or could be a security problem try locking and then unlocking the driver side door with the key.

If you can pop start it, my bet is the starter.

About an hour to replace. Most auto part places can check if the starter is bad by testing it on a bench and usually is free, that way you can be sure its the starter before replacing it

Not sure on that man, try the diy section and google for the diy. Its pretty simple, only two bolts and its located on the transmission under the battery tray
