Hey guys... i have another question...i plan on getting a system and a head unit realyl soon but for a couple days im gonna have the stock stereo. right now it say Safe on it. the dealer told me taht they have to call VW or something and get the code. i have teh serial number and everything but the dealer is dicking me around and is taking forever. does anyone know any sites or anyphone numers that i can call to find out the code to make it work? thank you for any help.

THe dealer is your best bet, as long as they have their shit together.

If you try to enter the code to many times it will lock you out.

Anit-theft i think was the idea?

anyways my girlfriend drives a 98" vw

ive done lots of work on her car, stereo and replacement parts (alot) of parts acctualy.

I always called her car dealer in L.A. and got the code over the phone.

corse ive also been a mobile a/v installer for years, so it was kinda easy to get.

It's a 4 digit code printed on the inside cover of your manual! There's instructions in the manual for how to input it.

If you lost your manual, alot of vw dealers write the code somewhere on the car mine was behind the trunk carpet jsut had to pull the corner back a bit
