I have a 1998 Jetta vr6. recently the low oil pressure ringer has been going off even though i do not believe that my oil pump has gone bad because none of the other tell tell signs of low oil pressure have happened and when the engine warms up the oil ringer goes away. i am trying to replace the two sending units that are located on the top of the oil filter housing that is under the intake on the front of the motor buried very deeply. i have seen posts that you should be able to get in here somehow with a 1/4 inch socket and a universal adapter but can not imagine how i will be able to accomplish this without taking anything off first. i am looking for someone who has done this before and has some kind of general idea on how to do this and what actually needs to come apart to get to this part of the engine. i have the Bentley Manuel and all this thing says is that it is very easy to test these sensors by putting a oil pressure gauge in line with the sensor but have no idea how yo get a wrench in there to remove them without taking the oil pressure housing off.
thank you,
