I recently found a sweet deal on what I think is a golf but it has no markings cant find any identifying marks telling me whether it is a golf or rabbit the only badge on it is a wolfsburg edition badge are there any specifics I should look for? I may be a tech for vw but its only aircooled I know so watercooled is new too me. and its only 100 dollars (u.s.) and only a blown engine, very clean body and interior. It's a 1984 is what the door tag states so if you guys or gals can help I would appreciate it!!! Thanks, josh

First off welcome!
If it's markings show '84, then it would be a Rabbit, with some sort of 1.8/1.7 litre engine. I am assuming that since your confusion was wether it was a Golf/Rabbit, that it's a hatchback; either two, or four? Check very closely for rust, especially in the engine bay. If it's clean, and structurely sound, then go for it. Let us know how it works.
