I own a 97 GLX VR6 Jetta. Recently had it in the shop for a full tune up. 99,000 miles and running great. The rear driver side passenger window wasn't operating so I had them look at it. He showed me the wire harness between the door and jam was the culprit. The soy-based wires had started to fray. A common problem. The real problem is VW doesn't make the wire harness anymore. I'm looking for a replacement. It has to be the left side rear door or it will not fit. Any suggestions or leads would be awesome. I'm assuming the junkyards will be the best source... most likely I will have to buy the whole door. I've also checked out UsedPartsCentral.com but nothing has come up.

you could try calling around to some junk shops in your area and find out if anyone has a 97 whatever VW. I'm sure that they probably used the same window wiring for all their vehicles those years. Granted the ends might not be the same but at that point you can just splice together the ends.
