I was trying to install a trigger for a powered sub in my Mk3 by using the (Brown/red) ignition wire (which seeemed to be the switch for the radio and door chimes).

Well, no more chimes, no more radio.

I disconnected the patched wire and can't find any blown fuses in the panel or in back of the factory radio, but still no chimes nor radio.

There's just no power coming out of the ignition in that wire anymore, but the wire looks fine. Could the trigger in the ign. switch have burned out?

I've found in several cars i've owned that there are some more fuses under the hood, one of which solves that exact problem, happened to me in my '92 cougar

Turn's out I fried the ignition switch. It's got a trigger for the stupid 'la cucaracha' door chime as well as the radio.

Had to call in a favor at the dealer to borrow the steering wheel puller and replaced it.

Total cost - 2 days labor (don't ask), 1 favor, $15 for the part.
