I'm assuming you have a 1.8t. So you have a stock sidemount intercooler.

This is an aftermarket one, probably a godspeed from ebay.

is there is a performance difference between side mount and front mount?

yes big diff in cooling as the airflow is differnt.... if your on a budget get the upgraded side mount... if funds are not a prob then go FMIC (front mount) but stay away from GodSpeed, everyone i know has issues with mounting..... (from that pic it looks like they hacked the hell out of the front cover)

Not completely necessary to do with a stock turbo.

I got an fmic, godspeed. Prepare to do some bumper trimming.



But make sure you dont get pipes that are too thick. mine are 2in on the hot side, 2.25 on the cold side. Large intercoolers with large pipes cause boost lag, loss of torque, loss of psi.

But how should i mount it? So it is stuck and doesn't move around..

once its mounted if you mount it correct it shouldnt move around to begin with.. if u go with other brands it usually just mounts direct to bumper support

I trimmed the rad surround, and inner valance edges. You use the rad support bolts to install the core. Then the pipes are clamped to the core.

What you trim really depends on the kit. Do some research . Decide what kit you want. And if your unsure, then post and we can take a look at what you wanna buy before you buy it.
