I want to get a BOV for my GTI. I was reading on the web that BOV for my engine is not recommended. However, they recomend the DV. Is this true? Does anyone use a BOV on thei 1.8t? Does one sound different then the other? Any info would be helpful.
THANKS

A BOV will set off a CEL, a d/v is the best way to go. if you do a search on here you'll be able to find more info about it.

from what i heard you actually lose horsepower b/c air is not being diverted back into the intake, rather it is released in the air.

can anybody confirm this?

btw i was talking about a blow off valve

I have a forge diverter valve. If that is what you are talking about. Yes it has a more metalic sound. It is kind a hard to explain the noise. Apparently you not only gain hp but also gain some fuel economy. The car is also crisper to drive.
