I put on new front brake pads today and first my rotors were getting hot and then tonight I had to brake hard even though I shouldn't have yet (only 75 miles broken in) and about 2 minutes later they were smoking for about 10 seconds, then I parked it and went to a store and they cooled down again. I was wondering if anybody knows why they would be smoking or just getting hot. I checked the spacing and it looks pretty good and the caliper isn't too tight and I pushed the piston in as far as it would go, so I cant figure it out.

There is nothing wrong with your brakes. Brakes work on Friction. They get hot no matter what. They smoked because they are new and the pads still need to be seated on the rotor. Just don't brake too hard anymore, not for at least 200 miles.

Everything is normal.
