So I decided to replace my key as per this video:

It is a great way to replace an old worn out key (like mine. The spring didn't work at all) to a newer replacement. I ordered on from Amazon and it was in excellent condition.

ADVISORY!!! DO NOT DO LIKE HE DID TO REMOVE THE KEY!!! I put my flip portion of my key in a vise, like the video instructed and while I was "compressing the plastic until you hear it crack", I accidently broke the RFID chip as well. I am not sure if mine was already broken or and I finished it off, or if it was me who broke it. Either way. This way doesn't work. INSTEAD...use a flathead screw driver and remove the VW symbol to get to the screw.

FINALLY:
Is there anything I can do to get my car started? I was told that I have to get a new key programmed from the dealer and the closest dealer is 49.8 miles away and I can't get my car to start. Any ideas?

...and no. I only have one key.

Thanks,
CHEERS!!!

I was able to remove the chip from my key fob but I glued it to the steering column just under the key slot. Now I can have a key made anywhere and it will start my car.
Well i went to get my keys made and they only had one. That means that I need to go back up to the next town (50 miles away) to get another key done so I might end up doing something like this but then again, what is the point of having a tamper free ignition system if it isn't tamper free???
