Hello all,

I have a 2001 jetta 1.8t just turned 40,000 miles. The Clutch is slipping. I have only owned the car for 10 months, but put over 22,000 miles on the car. I use the car mainly as a comuter car. I drive 35 miles each way to work. I can't believe that I've already gone through a clutch in such a short amount of time. Has anyone had to replace their clutch already?? if so, what did you replace it with??

Thank You

My cars just hit the 90k mark and is only three years old, Iv`e only had it a year and the clutch is slipping really badly I guess that it has been changed before mabye once or twice seeing as the standard ones arnt that good I`m thinking of putting in a ECS stage one kit which does sound promising..

Upgrade to an aftermarket clutch kit, or as an alternative, install a VR6 clutch disc, as they are way better than a 1.8T clutch.

Thanks for the replies....

I have read in other posts that people have used the VR6 clutch for the 1.8t.

Does anyone know if there are any modifications that need to be done to install the VR6 clutch in my 1.8t????
