Hi. I'm new to the forum, so hoping I'm posting in the right place. I just bought a brand new 2022 Jetta Sport 1.5T manual, and it's got issues. It's going into service tomorrow morning, so I'll learn more. What is your experience with new VWs with problems? I'm happy to elaborate if anyone reads this.

I just purchased a 2022 Jetta Sport with the 1.5 liter turbo engine and a 6 - speed manual transmission. I like the car but am finding it has an annoying lag when you first depress the accelerator in any gear, but especially in 1st gear. I was wondering what problems you are having with your Jetta and if you are experiencing the same issue that I am with mine. Please get back to me and let me know what you are experiencing. Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. I jumped to conclusions due to a poor sales experience. The salesguy didn't know basic elements of the car and the service manager spent a lot of time with me going over details. He said that German cars are over-engineered and some of the items I had difficulty with were due to certain functionality not being intuitive. Yes, I have the same lag issue as you when I depress the accelerator but I thought that was just me being inexperienced driving a manual. I haven't driven a manual in 12 years and I thought it would be fun to go back to one. The lag means I spend too much time with my foot on the clutch. I actually had trouble getting the car into neutral to start it when it was cold, and I couldn't duplicate it for the service manager, and again, I assume it's just me not understanding the feel of the car. It's an incredible car for an incredible price, and yet, I'm having some buyer's remorse due to the clutch/shifter/acceleration feel.

I think I can agree with you that some things on the Jetta our counter intuitive. I’ve been trying to get to know all the functions better myself, but with all that being said I really do like the car. I especially love the gas mileage I get! The lag in the acceleration does disturb me because there are times that it feels almost dangerous. The dealer told me that there’s probably not much that can be done about it unless I do a software update from an aftermarket company that might have new algorithms for the engine. I am looking into that and will let you know if I find anything and if it helps. I was just curious about what color and options you got with your Jetta Sport. Mine is rising blue and doesn’t really have any other options. The cars are equipped pretty well even in entry level form so you get alot for the money. Thanks for answering me and look forward to hearing from you again.

Want to clarify when it happens. I was on a hill, at a light, and to my surprise, the car did not roll back when I started to accelerate. What did happen is that I had trouble accelerating in first as I went through the intersection. That is what felt potentially dangerous. The car is incredibly peppy and fast when you go from second to third or third to fourth (haven't yet been on highway for higher gears), but zero to first is the problem. Is this what you're seeing?

It's going into service tomorrow morning, so I'll learn more. I have suggested that the dealer simply buy it back and they refuse. I'll be going to VW Corporate before a legal route. What is your experience with new VWs with problems? I'm happy to elaborate if anyone reads this.
lets just bypass the electronic control system do a Manuel feed set up and build it for track and touring purposes with a wicked suspension setup and beefy turbo system

What you fellers are experiencing is what's known as turbo lag, as you accelerate the engine in first gear it is taking your turbo a minute or two to spool up and without that boost pressure your cars feel weak and anemic. the reason you dont notice it in the upper gears is that you already have speed up. find yourself a quite country road and go bang some gears keeping your revs up between gears will give you a very satisfactory ride

Hi and I’m sorry for delay in responding to your last post. What you described is what I am experiencing. When I let out the clutch in first gear there is a power lag until the engine reaches almost 2000 RPM, and then it surges with great power. I have had several instances where I needed to accelerate quickly as I was turning left in a gap of oncoming traffic and the car had no power and scared me that I barely got out of the way in time. With an engine is peppy is this one is, it shouldn’t be doing that in those lower RPMs. I have reported the problem to Volkswagen and I’m hoping that I will hear from them and have a solution for it. As far as being on a hill, the car has an anti-rollback feature that will not let the car roll backwards until you let the clutch out. It’s a nice feature but takes a little getting used to.

Hey, I know that theese are practically brand new cars and tweaking with the turbo/engine may not be ideal for everyone, but I found a hybrid turbo online:

It may solve some of the issues with lagging and will spool faster in the higher rpms.

Also a nice idea for a bit extra power

I am having infotainment and brake issues with my 2022 jetta sel. The sound will randomly go out (no music audio no Bluetooth sound) and won't return until a random amount of engine restarts. My rear caliper has also malfunctioned with not disengaging causing critical wear of brake pad and now off the rotor. Anyone else experiencing this. Only have 24k miles and not driven rough.

Recently I almost bought a Jetta Sat online auction, the condition was perfect (used Live Video Streaming and VIR tools), but because of the price some other lucky guy got it. Despite all the problems you are talking about, I still want this car.
