My DSG gearbox literally broke (Mecatronic dead, Flywheel dead) with less than 140000 km (86000 miles) on the car: 8000 Euros (9000 USD) to replace, which represents more than half of what the car cost me to buy just 3 years ago. As for the service book (carefully maintained up-to-date), at no point does it indicate that such a major mechanical part as a gearbox (or its subparts such as the mecatronic or flywheel) would ever need changing. Despite all of that, the car manufacturer Volkswagen has been ignoring all of my requests for help with the repair costs. Knowing that this DSG gearbox is used by the entire group (VW, Skoda, Seat, Audi), I am seriously considering never buying a car from the group ever again.
