Hi guys,
thank you for letting me join the forum..I been a long time DIY mechanic and have rebuilt many an engine..Wiring on the other hand is not my strong point so I came looking for some help from you guys.
I have a 2004 2.0ltr 5dr golf with some electrical problems since a heavy storm pushed through.(water may be the cause).

Problem: I cannot turn on the windscreen wipers I checked the fuse all ok however if I apply the hand break so the dash break light comes on wipers will work with or without the wiper stem switched on/off but the indicators will not work, if I turn on the headlight switch the 4 ways will light on the dash and the high beams also show on the dash. To add to the mix if I put back the wiper fuse they remain on regardless of the position of the wiper stem selection ie. on/off. If I open the central locking the wipers will also move a little with or without the fuse in.
I have blessed the battery, fuse board, relays, ignition switch with WD 40.
I have checked the fuse's all are good. however, I noted that unless I remove all the light fuse and the wiper fuse wipers will continue to move slowly.
I have looked at the wiring diagram but cannot see where the cross over is between the handbreak/switch. the headlight,indicators,horn...any help guys..

same shite different day

Ok guys...I pulled the wiper motor out checked all the wiring and links..all good.
pulled the hazard light switch all is good there as well.
Got to thinking about the problem some more.. so I pulled the fuses for the lights ,wipers and indicators. high beams still don't work so I'm thinking the + wire is broken somewhere..but if I switch on the lights and flash the high beams indicators and wipers move erratically so the break in the high beam circuit wire while broken is supplying power to the wiper power feed and the hand break/Driving light circuit is also broken and will supply power to the other cables.. So the question is where are all these cables likely to be....? behind the dash lights, in the engine compartment?....Ps.. Haynes manual is shite
:sniper:...regurgitated bollix from other manuals...section on relays is rubbish and about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike......bugger never checked the horn..f...k it tomorrows a new day I'll check it then..slainte

Ok guys, pulled the CCM from the car(a few times) on this occassion I opened the the CCM up and dried it out with a hairdryer(you got to love the ladies vanity) for about 10mins. reinstalled it and it all works fine now...To recap after all this I'm bald with unsightly scabs( healing nicely) I've a few more wrinkles than before and the twitch I developed is on the mend.
thank Fcuk for serendipity... thanks for all the suggestions...
