Look into a tire made of harder compound. It sounds like you're getting tires made of soft compound. Check out the warranty as well. Usually tires or the place you got them from has one.

Hi I have a 2014 GLI Autobahn with the 18 inch rims and low profile tires. I have had two tires already show up with bumps on them. I had to have them replaced. Now I have another bump on a front tire as of last night. I've had this car for only a couple months and as you can assume, I'm really feeling it financially at this point.
The roads I drive on every day are just too rough for sensitive tires like this and I can't let this continue. I want to know what the best option is. Should I switch to 17s or would that still leave me with low profiles? I'm willing to buy 16s but will they fit? At this point I just need for tire wall because I can't afford new tires every month.

That's a very common problem with potholes and low profile tires.
Do you live in an area with rough winters?
It has been brutal here in NY this year. The severe cold has caused thousands of potholes and lots of damaged tires.

You can find smaller wheels and fit them with tires with a larger aspect ratio. This will give you a bigger sidewall and more cushion.
Another option is buying road hazard insurance on your tires, either with each new tire you buy, or go back to the dealer, the may be able to retroactively add it to your purchase.

Yeah I'm more interested in ditching the big rims than finding a way to deal. I'm in RI and there is no way around the potholes. Will 16s fit that car or are the breaks too big? The tires on the car are Dunlop sports tires so idk about the material.

From what I see on tirerack, it looks like I can put 16s on it. My concern was the brake size for this car. I'm not sure how much larger than the standard jetta they are. I called a town fair tire and I'm going in today to pick out new rims. I think I'll hang onto the originals for now.

According to your condition as you have said is much better that you may have need off road tyres they work well for you. else you can also check their warranty and their features.
