A family member's getting rid of their '87 Jetta Deluxe, and I've offered to take it off her hands and start up my project car. Question: I've looked up the Vin# and registration regarding the vehicle, but the only description I get for the car is that it's a Jetta Deluxe (no mention of GL/Carat/etc.), and I'd like to know what does the Deluxe exactly mean? It's a 1.8L engine (8/16V?), 4-door. She's up in New York and doesn't know much else about it, so all I've seen are pictures of it and what I gathered from the registration. Any help regarding the meaning of the "Deluxe" would be appreciated, thanks!

Yeah I still haven't a clue, nor have I ever heard anyone call any version of the Jetta a Deluxe. My guess was that it might be a GL, but it should be arrive within the next two weeks and I can take a better look at the engine to confirm it. Super-Project, here we go!
