I'm sort of new here but I was wondering if the 2.0 liter non-GTI can have an added turbo added to it and if so how does it run?
also can you point me to a direction where i could see this setup, or another thread/link... thanks?

Almost never. There are no horsepower gains worthwhile to justify a turbo setup on the 2.0s. They are only an 8 valve motor, where the 1.8s are 20 valve.
You would be looking at a terrible investment. Definitely not worth it.

I wouldn't do it, I have a jetta 2.0l and for me to get my engine to a place where it would be sturdy enough to be able to handle a turbo would be so expensive and would outweigh the positives on how much power you would get from a turbo, I would probably put some money into some small things making your 2.0 more efficient like a CAI or a Magnaflow exhaust system.

alright thanks for the comments, just one question, a CAI is a cold air intake right? so what is the difference between that and a normal intake? also how does a chip increase performance?

psst, I'm not jebus... That would be cool though.
I literally am on this site my ENTIRE shift at my job. As soon as a new post comes in, I'm there man.
There should be a sticky about 2.0 turbos.
Just the word "don't" that's it.

CAI= cold air intake.

Chips can increase performance in all sorts of ways. On the 1.8ts they allow for more boost = more power.

You have 2 choices: drive your 2.0 as the fuel efficent, reliable daily driver that it is. Or sell it and buy a 1.8T. With the money it will cost you to make your 2.0 turbo, you can sell your car, buy a 1.8T and still have enough money left to chip it.

alright that sounds good, thing is i do enjoy my 2.0, its got 90k miles and still drives good, i just wanted to work on it a little, add a few things, although performace wise i cant really get much more out of the engine, i guess ill have to shift towards looks, maybe change a few things, add HIDs, im not sure if a body kit is worth it, next im thinking new exhaust system, although id like it to sound nice, i dont want it to break the sound berrier.

also where would you recommend i order the chip from?as well as the CAI?

thanks, if you have any comments or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

I would get the chip local, Ecstuning.com sells some pretty cheap cold air kits that work well.
That's what I have!

Don't dump that kind of money into it.......clean your car top to bottm, including the engine bay, sell it ...then add the money you have saved and get a 1.8t, or a vr6...why settle for just looks? You can have the total package.

yes, although its a bit of a risk, i mean ill probly get 4.5k to 5k$ max for the 2.0 golf, plus thing about used cars is you never know how the previus owner treated it, wear and tear, driving style, services, etc.. but yes its a good idea with some luck too..

Yeah it did.
As a result I decided to run catless. I had a magnaflow cat back already.
I had heard that they come in two pieces, but I got the DP, then a test pipe.
So the test pipe was included with the downpipe? Is it a 2.5" outlet test pipe?
